Dave Hoskins, first black player in the Texas League, on the
mound for the Dallas Eagles. Before coming to Dallas, Hoskins
played for various teams in the Negro Professional League. He
pitched in Dallas for one season, then played parts of two seasons
with the Cleveland Indians.

Arthur Ashe in Dallas for Davis Cup tennis matches against Mexico.
Matches were held at the Samuell-Grand Tennis Center, the first
