ACO SHOOTING CLUB OF DALLAS

1949 - 1960
Materials pertaining to regional gun enthusiast and gun collector associations, including the ACO Shooting Club of Dallas, Trinity Rifle Club of Dallas, National Rifle Association, Fort Worth Rifle and Pistol Club, among others. Materials consist of membership rosters, tournament/match results, brochures, some correspondence, and photos.

According to notes from the manuscript donor, the ACO Shooting Club was founded in 1946 by Dallas natives who had served in Company A of the Dallas Battalion of the Texas State Guard during WWII. In 1952, members of the ACO Shooting Club formed the Trinity Rifle Club.

The scrapbook of Asa Edward Allen was donated in 2003 and contains various materials collected throughout the individual's life, particularly his years in college and the beginning of his professional career. This collection might be most useful in shedding light on the life of a young professional male in Dallas.The collection contains many railway stubs from different areas of the United States, professional and civil organization brochures, tuition receipts, membership cards, a picture, a Texas State Fair ticket, newspaper clippings, and a few other various items.

ASSOCIATED WHOLESALE GROCERS

Ca. 1960s. David Keener started work for Associated Wholesale Grocers (later Affiliated Food Stores) when it opened in 1946. After fourteen years in its bookeeping department, he became general manager. The collection consists of photos, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous publications during his career as general manager, as well as early efforts to develop the Stemmons Business Corridor (formerly the Brook Hollow Industrial District). 1/2 linear ft.
