Historical BackgroundGold Star Mothers is a club for mothers of sons and daughters killed in combat. The club comforts and provides assistance to mothers who have been notified of their child's death and performs various volunteer works, mostly in hospitals. The Dallas Chapter was founded during the World War I years. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThis collection contains clippings concerning the club's activities, undated lists of Dallasites who were killed in combat, and a 1919 program from a memorial service held in Dallas for patriots "who gave their lives for world peace."
