Are you interested in programming as a career but not sure where to begin? Take a test-drive into programming in this hands-on free crash course on JavaScript. Hosted by the IRON YARD, a programming school from Dallas, TX.

What You'll Learn
This is an introduction to thinking with code and is meant for beginning programmers. If you don't know any JavaScript, that's okay. You'll learn some of the basics as we go.

What Do I Need To Bring? You don't need a computer, but if you bring one, you'll be able to follow along and try some of the JavaScript yourself.

Who Is This For? Beginners with little or no coding background.

What do I need to know? Nothing!

The Crash Course will be taught by The Iron Yard's Front-End Engineering instructor, Eric Sowell. Eric has been in software development for thirteen years and is active in the Dallas technical community. He is the author of Mobile ASP.NET MVC 5 (Apress, Nov 2013), and writes on his blog at ericsowell.com, and tweets under the name @mallioch.

December Mystery Book Selection: Zero Day by David Baldacci

John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigation Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth. Now, Puller is called out on a case in a remote, rural area in West Virginia coal country far from any military outpost. Someone has stumbled onto a brutal crime scene, a family slaughtered. The local homicide detective, a headstrong woman with personal demons of her own, joins forces with Puller in the investigation. As Puller digs through deception after deception, he realizes that absolutely nothing he's seen in this small town, and no one in it, are what they seem. Facing a potential conspiracy that reaches far beyond the hills of West Virginia, he is one man on the hunt for justice against an overwhelming force. -- From the Dallas Public Library Catalog.
